Ambrose Mariuz
A native of northern Italy, Ambrose Mariuz graduated in 1961 from the prestigious,”Scuola Musaicisti Del Friuli,” one of the few schools which teaches the art of old world mosaic.
After graduation, Ambrose worked as a tile setter for several years before being invited to the United States, to pursue the art of his craft. He worked in the Detroit area initially, then moved to California in the early 1970’s.
Local magazines and trade journals often feature examples of his most impressive work. He had instructed other tile setters in classes sponsored by tile supply houses. In 1988, the Ceramic Tile Distributors Association honored Ambrose Mariuz with their western regional SPECTRUM Award for outstanding craftsmanship.
His company, DESIGNS IN TILE, specializes in custom tile designs and remodels. His four years of intense study and training included tile setting, as well as the intricacies of mosaic, terrazzo and marble.
